How do you change the bearings in OS Crankcase?
I have two OS 46FX crankcases. One was in a crash that broke the carb off so the case is trash. The other is from a lost plane that was in a cornfield for 4 months. The bearings are rusted solid.
I wanted to take the bearings out of the bad case and replace the rusted ones in the good case.
Anyone ever do it? Anyone know how to do it?

Soap wash it, dry it, spray WD40 or penetrating oil all inside, flush & clean with alcohol, heat the crank case with a big torch near the rear bearing line from outside, tap it hard on a woodblock untill bearing falls out. Same for the front bearing line, use a drift from inside to push it out.
Once bearings are out, re-clean the case, shine it up inside on bearing seats with a dremel tool using a buffing wheel head and some polishing compound. Heat up the case, put the new bearings in. voila..

RE: How do you change the bearings in OS Crankcase?
Thanks guys.
I thought about doing it in the oven before because I didn't know if that little torch was enough. Looks like they both work.
I just went out and used the torch on the rusted bearings. Came right out.
Guess it was all for nothing. The rusted ones are in a 46FXi. Looking on Tower Hobbies the 46FX and 46FXi sizes are not the same. They are $55. Anyone know of a cheaper option?

Found in the how to link. $6.97, now that's more like it.
