Default Missing Wrist Pin Pad

Hi all. I have a wrist pin for an OS Max .60 H that is missing one of the wrist pin pads. I had some extra K&B .61 Teflon pads so I stuck one of those in the open end of the pin. But, it is a very loose fit and moves around quite a bit.

Will this be safe to use? I don't think it can come out while running, but I don't know for sure. Is is possible to fabricate a homemade pad out of something? Are there pads for other engines that might be a better fit?

The first photo is the open end and the K&B pad; second photo is of the intact padded end.

Thanks,
David

I'm prety sure they are teflon. You can buy teflon rod from Enco or McMaster Carr and turn it to fit if you have a little lathe or a friend who does. They would be easy to make.

As long as there isn't a possibility of it snagging in a port, it should be fine.

Thanks Don. It's a crossflow, baffle piston engine so the wristpin never passes over a port (as with Schneurles).

Do any modern 4-cycles use wrist pin pads? I'm just wondering if there's a readily available part out there.

The OS 91 Surpass II uses teflon pads

The wristpin includes them. It gives a diameter. You might have to search through all of the available pins to find one that's right.

You can have 2 difference material for the pads: teflon or bronce. Bronce pads must be pressed into the hole while the teflon pads are lose fitted inthe hole. Some wristpins has bronce ring soldered to wrispin or has a hollowed pads pressed into the hole.

Thanks everyone.

Carrell, my wrist pin is also 6mm in diameter, so I bet the .91 pads will work.

20 years ago i used the tip of a bamboo skewer wedged into the pin and sanded off in an OS .28 FSR. worked great, never a problem and gave the engine away to a friend who is still using it today.

Thanks everyone. I appreciate the help. I needed a few other odds and ends from Tower so I went ahead and threw the .91 pin in the basket.
