Default Does anyone know what K & B model engine this is ?

I have a chance to obtain this k & B 61 and I was wondering if anyone might shed some light on it. I was told the owner doesn't know for sure how old or what model it is. All info is greatly appreciated,

Thanks, Steve "Dead eyes"

Default K&B .61

That is a K&B .61 Model 6550 - great engine. I am flying one on a 7# airplane now and it will pull the plane straight up off the runway using a 10x7.5 3-blade

Thanks for the replys guys. It looks like an O.S. Muffler but I could be wrong. I haven't seen the actual engine only photos. I was thinking about puttin it in An Uproar 60, what do you think ?

Default My opinion

That would be a fantastic engine for an uproar-60. You will have to break it in a bit more than one of the Asian imports and tuning it will probably take a bit of patience.

I have a Mac Pipe on mine because the dang muffler is such a piece of junk! The K&B muffler is a two piece with the pressure tap being the only thing that hold it together - soft metal, + vibrations = muffler backend pops off in flight!

There is lots of information here in RCU regarding this engine.
