i just bought a OS 91 FS from a guy and he didn't send the manual. this is my first 4 stroke.

Question:
there are 3 fuel line hook ups on the engine and i have no idea where what goes of even about the maint. of a 4 stroker. if somebody might have a manual that they could e-mail me, cool.

hello pepper,............ you didnt say how old this is, what color is the valve cover? black are the newer surpass models. chrome are the older surpass moels. in any case, i have a manual for the newer surpass 70 & 91. about 98 % of the info will work for either engine. (older or newer). I'm not very good with this computer stuff & dont know enough to copy it, let along change it to something i could e-mail. But i would be thrilled if copying at my work, & mailing you a one would help you out. just let me know, if you'd like & where to send..............all the best bill

I can tell you a few basic things without the manual that you should do before running it. First off, I think the 3 fuel nipples you are refering to is the one that goes into the carb, obviously you connect that to your tank. Another one is on the muffler, and same with 2 strokes, connect it to your tank to presurize it. The 3rd one is on the bottom of the crankcase. This is where excess lube is drained out. Do not connect it to the tank. When in your plane, connect some fuel tubing out of the bottom of it in order to drain the spent oil out of the bottom. Another thing to do before running it is checking the valve clearances. If you are familiar with any 4 stroke engine, in a car or lawnmower or wherever, you will know that valves are operated by the rockers. In order for your model to work right, the gap between the rocker and the valve must be set at a specific distance. Go to your local hardware store and get a set of feeler gauges. They are very thing metal leafs that are a specific thickness that you use to judge this gap between the rocker and valve. Then take off the valve cover on your engine. Now the valves will be exposed, and you need to slide a .04 gauge in between the rocker and valve. That should go in without much of a stuggle. Now get out the .1 gauge, and that one should not be able to slide in the gap. I'm not sure the adjustment procedure on O.S, or if the .04 and .10 are in mm or inches. Go to your LHS and there they should be able to give you specifics. It would probably be best to bring your engine in and have them walk you through it. The valve lash adj is between .04mm and .10 mm, not inches. Some feeler guages have both mm and inches marked on each guage. Good luck!

very cool. i work for a Gov. contractor and i work on everything from hummers to M1A3 SEPS, so the info you just gave me will help out alot.. i bought the OS 4 stroke adjustment package from tower hobbies so i have the equipment to work it, i just wonted to make sure that i was doing it the correct way..
