JIS (Japanese Industrial Standard) screwdrivers
Does anyone here know of a source for these screwdrivers? It would be nice if I could find a set in a chain store here in the US without having to mail order or buy over the internet, any ideas?
Although most new engines have cap screws, I still have many old OS and enya engines with cross slot screws, and stripping them with a phillips screwdriver drives me mad[:@]

....sometimes when a Phillips screwdriver does not fit well, it seems
too loose in the screw. If you grind a bit off the end of the screwdriver
in many cases it will fit perfectly. This applies in particular to Japanese
screws. [)]

Hi Dave, I tried that trick and it did help the phillips get a better bite on a good unworn screw. Worn screws are still a problem.
I'm going to order a set of the drivers from central hobbies now, thanks all.

Some of these might prove less costly...
I think not all sizes in the 5-set offered by CH are actually needed.

This is the first place I ever saw them. I bought a set 5 years ago and will never go back.

The moderator is correct. See the thread at http://www.rcuniverse.com/forum/m_69.../tm.htm6937107
I bought a $2.00 no.2 US screwdriver at the hardware store and just touched the tip with a grindstone in my Dremel tool. Makes all the difference in the world on OS engines.

Decided to order a set of these JIS screw drivers http://www.moodytools.com/ . This outfit is located in rhode island (made in usa) and they offer a no BS lifetime gaurantee. I had to try them.
I'll post again when I get the set.
