Default are Laser engines that unpopular?

i have a brand new Laser .80 on sale on RCU right now and am amazed that i can't even get a nibble at 75% of what i paid for it.
this must be why Laser doesn't bother to push their engines over here in the states..................the average Americam modeler must have to see the words Saytoe or O S to be attracted to an engine because for some reason the Laser engines don't attract anyone here in the states.
or have some of you run a Laser and found them to be trash?

Well... I have a Laser .80 and positively love it! I didn't know of your add. Can you post a link? I'd love to have another.

It is a 1%er engine. Great engine but only 1% will appreciate it over a OS or Satio; mainly because of the price. It really almost a collector engine more than an everyday engine in the US.

yeah that's what i thought.........american ignorance is bliss eh?

i had an OS 1.60 Gemini twin and was amzed with how nice it ran...............when i got my Laser 200V, i tossed OS out of the shop.
the Laser's are not collectors engines, they are made to order and outclass the cheap Sayto's and OS's by a long margin.

The performance seems a bit low and the carbs a bit high.

it really isn't my intention to do that..........i did not post a link and the one person who said he was interested read my PM but never responded, so it's still getting nothing more than window shoppers.
i posted this thread as i'm a bit concerned that i have a motor that no one understands.

Summerwind... I got your PM.... Thanks.

You are fighting a multitude of problems selling this right now. Probably the top of the list is the exchange rate to the GBP. The Laser .80 list for 215 GBP. That about $420.00 USD for an .80 (!). Your asking price is fair compared to that but it is still $300.00. I truly love my Laser .80 but if all I wanted to do is fly, there are other choices. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SAIE072 Since I've been flying for about 40 years now, the run of the mill engine does little for me. I am looking for something others are not using. The Laser .80 engine is a masterpiece. It idles like a Swiss watch and it machining is a pleasure to look at.. but... as sportpilot pointed out, it is down on power compared to other 4C engines in the $300.00 range. http://www.horizonhobby.com/Products...ProdID=SAIE100

As you have already noted, one of the greatest hurtles you face is that it is not an OS or Saito.[:@]

As I said, your price is fair but I have to consider weather I need two of them.?.?

actually Bill, you were the second person i PM'ed.........the first PM i got was from someone who just had to have it.

reallisticly i will probably end up keeping it.............it's too pretty to sell, but i figured that maybe someone else out there would find joy in owning this piece of art.

i have 2 of these.................the one i had here was to give someone who apreciates them a chance to get one without the ebay hassle.
and yes, i have 2 of the 200V's
that's my problem, i buy 2 of everything, and then don't have enough money to play with.
