The O.S. .46 FX is a terrific engine that is powerful, reliable, and easy to tune. The .46 FX was notorious for "peeling liner" problems when first introduced, but if you're buying a good running example of the model, you have little to worry about.
I have one .46 FX and one .46 FXi engine in my collection, and both have proven to be very reliable and very user friendly over the years.

If you are using a hotter plug than the OS 8 in your Evolution .46NT, then it will have more power than the .46FX. You can see the difference by using an A3 plug and retuning your Evo.
Both engines gain a significant bit of power with the Tower's muffler.
If that .46FX is in good shape, it may be a good idea to use some castor in the fuel to prevent further wearing of the liner and piston.

The .46FX is one of the best engines OS ever made. Strong, reliable, versatile for anything from a sport plane to a Q-500 or 3D profile. Tell us what plane you're going to hang it on and we might be able to help you out with prop selection too.
Sport- 11x6,11x7
Speed- APC 9x7
3D- APC 12x4 or 12.25x3.75

I only ever had a 46fx on a 3d plane and a 12x4 apc was the best prop I tried. I never did try an 11.5x4, which would probably be even better since, like Daven said above, the FX engines like to spin up.
