Tell us how you broke it in.
Have you tweaked the idle mixture?
Are you running it on a stand to get it tuned up?
Lots of prior discussion on this topic. Have you checked the old threads?

i didnt break in the motor, another guy did, and id trust that the person who i bought it off of would have broken it in right, it runs beautifuly, just a little out of tune.
i havent tweaked the idle mixture.
the engine is bolted into the plane and id like to keep it there.
and on checking old threads, i try looking up tuning of 4 strokes and i realy cant find what im looking for. i know its been asked alot, i just cant come across any old threads.

One big difference between 2-strokes and 4-strokes is the difficulty in hearing the engine peak while adjusting the high-speed needle. Unless you're especially gifted, the general recommendation is to use a tach to tune the high-speed needle. Otherwise you risk leaning too much and kicking off a prop. The 180 is known to do that - so be careful.
Tuning the low-speed mixture is another challenge with a few procedures. If your low-speed is too rich, you'll have trouble holding an idle for too long - or the engine will stall and die if you idle it for a little then slam the throttle open. Here's a couple ways compliments of Wayne which should also apply:

Here's a caution about getting the low-speed to lean:

More goodies on the 180:

And some more good info:

Hope this helps some.
I don't know that tuning the carb is any different between 2-strokes and 4-strokes. Maybe I'm missing something..
