Default What is the conversion from p.s. to hp?

I have noticed that in some of the specs quoted for O.S. engines, the 4-cycle engines have their power quoted in the familiar "hp", where the 2-cycle engines are quoted using "ps". What is "ps" (pound-seconds?)? How does it compare to horsepower?

The unit is Pferdestarke, or "horse strength". See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Horsepower#PS/
