irvine 20 abc non starter
I was tyring to set the carb on my irvine 20 abc mark 3b (i think)engine and now I can't start it, the information with the engine states a setting of 2 1/2 turns of the main needle but doesn't give a setting for the secondary needle. It's a jetstream barrel carb, any hints on rough settings, it had been running previously but was stalling as I backed off the throttle

Philtowle,
For an engine to run it needs the following:
Air
Fuel
Compression
Glow heat
If even one is missing it will not start.
Check that your glow plug is glowing, when the battery is connected.
Check that the carburettor barrel is about 1mm open.
Check that your main fuel needle is about 2-3 turns open.
Check that the idle needle is open 1-2 turns and verify you can hear the circuit is not blocked, by blowing through a short piece of fuel hose, connected to the carburetter fuel inlet nipple, WITH THE THROTTLE OPEN 1MM.
Also, is your engine broken-in?
If not, follow this thread:

If everything is as described, your engine should start.
Read other threads about adjusting your engine.
Sincerely,,
