I have a Swallow EX-90 That i am going to put together this spring. That plane calls for a .91 4s. Most put in a 100 or bigger. I didnt want to spend a lot on a engine so my question is what would be a good alternative 2s inexpensive, and what size, I was thinking about Buying used on here or that other place.

If that's what you call a dilema, then I just love dilemas, a Saito 1.00 or 1.15 would be perfect.

Now I am getting picky. I had a bad experience with Super Tigre engines. Hard to tune and flame outs. Don't know if I had a lemon or how to tune, But that one engine turned me off on super tigre engines. I am wanting to know if a .61 2s is a = to a .91 4s on this plane or do I need a bigger 2s like a .75 or .90 2s.

I am mostly just a sport flier and that is what this plane will be used as. Just something a little more "snappy" to take to the field when I am in the mood.

Really......... I had a ST g-90 on my delta vortex and flew it for a few seasons, it was 100% reliable, and would hand start easily.

If you are looking for a 2-stroke engine to match the performance of a saito 100 or 115, don't get anything less than a .90



I really don't think a .61 2-st = .91 4-st in the real world. I had a 4 star 60 and swaped a .61fsr and ST S-61 against a .91 surpass to compare performance and the surpass was head and shoulders above the other two engines in power. I think a .70 surpass would have been a more even match in performance.

....I second the ASP .90, a real good engine for little money. Good power.

The ASP/Magnum .91 is 110$ but the SK 90 is only 66$[X(]

You could also use the SK 130 at only 87$

I have the SK .50 myself and it runs fine and have about normal power for it`s size. The SK .90 has been reported to be very good too, by someone in here. Xjet I think??[sm=50_50.gif]

I think you`ll want a .90 twostroke to be the minimum in this plane to be satisfied. A quick google rewiles that many use 120 fourstrokes on this plane.

One and the same, except for the name on the side.

I will get one of these unless a extremely good deal comes up on a YS or Saito. I have a Pair of ASP .32s in a twin and hardly ever fiddle with the needles, and for a twin, good running engines are a "must have" I only have flame outs on one when I am out of fuel. I don't know why but the left engine burns fuel faster then the right one.
Also have a Magnum .46 in a Jr falcon again a flawless engine.
