the os 1.60 flat twin. you really need about a 115% thrust to weight ratio to be able to pull out of a hover, and the 160 flat twin will pull you out of a hover at 20 mph

Man what has he been smoking. 160 os on a 8lb airplane.

I would recommend a ys 91 or 63. My second choice would be a saito 100 it is 5oz lighter than the ys 91 but doesnt have a pump or the power. Also any saito 60 on up would be fine. For a 2cycle a os 91 fx with in cowl muffler would be awesome.

the engine requirement says .91 to 120. that means that it will be overpowered with a 1.20, but from my experiance, it will not pull out of a hover, it may even have toruble hovering. so, you overkill. however, now that i cought the 8 lb thing, i would try the os 1.20 surpass III. it is a pumped engine, meaning you can run it at peak. i should have gotten one of those for my .60, but it is already set up for the 91, and it won't sell for much. for some reason 4 strokes seem to depriciate much faster than two strokes. at least one ebay. they also make a supercharged 120. sorry, i missed the 8 lb thing.

i would stuff a turbine in my cap if i had one too. on an aerobatic plane, the more power the better. although the turbinee would not work very well in that plane. the .91 may not get you to hover, i had to kick up my nitro to 20% in order to do that. you could try the os 1.20 surpass III. it is pumped so you can run your engine at peak, for mor performance. it also draws fuel better than a pressure line can siphen. it is about $350 at tower hobbies.com

probably, but those things just eat up fuel. with a 91 four stroke, i get about 12 mins on a 13 oz tank. i don't want to know how fast a .91 four stroke would eat that up

Ta raaaa. I'm running a Seagul Edge 540 on an OS 91fx. It doesn't feel particularly overpowered though the engine is quite new and has been a bit of a stinker to set up. I'm running a 13x8 and 5%.

I had to take the center section out of the standard silencer to get it into the cowl and extend the exhaust outlet with silcone tubing to get it back out of the cowl. This might be stangling the motah a bit though it's so new I'm not sure. I'm getting just shy of 10k on the ground.

I also changed the supplied tank, I was getting 6 - 7 minutes with the 91fx! She does like to gulp.

As a point of interest, I started out with a TT 91fs in this model which was horrible. way too heavy and not very powerful, I did get 12 mins out of the standard tank though.

I tried nearly every reasonable type of propellor for this model and the 91FX. Without exception the model always seemed gutless and on the stall. Eventually I tried the APC 15 x 6 and 10% nitro. My power is now just under a 1 to 1 ratio. No hovering but great aerobatics. This plane spins like a dream.

also, if you are looking for a bit more power, there is some stuff called nitroblast. it is like the oil treatment stuf for your car. Get the 9 oz bottle. with the 9 oz botle, it costs all of about $2.65 per gallon extra,. it allows you to lean out your needle, will give you more flying time, will reduce tempurature so you can raise the nitro level, will eliminate a lot of friction so even without the extra nitro you get more power. it is great. using 20% (it used to be 15, but sense it got this stuff i cranked it up a bit to fill the cooling gap) and nitro blast, it cranks a 14x6 at 9500 rpm strait and level.

There is only one power plant for that plane. The YS 110. This should be plenty of power to have the ability to pull out of a hover.
