Default Glow Plug Hole Helicoils?

Anybody know where I can buy a helicoil to repair a stripped glow plug hole in my engine? I believe the threat is 1/4-32

Thanks,
Andy

Clarence Lee has an ad in the classified section of RCM - he provides this service. This is a very unusual thread so NAPA probably doesn't have one plus you need the tools to put it in.

Maybe an industrial supplier like McMaster or Grainger? By the way, how do you prevent the repaired head from leaking through the heli-coil? Does the copper washer still provide the seal?

I'll try Mcmaster and Grainger and see if they have them. I know about CL's service but prefer to do it myself.

Default heli-coils

Homebrewer,
I just went through the same thing Friday. Searched for about an hour on the web looking for a supplier. Never did find the 1/4"x32 size. I finally succumbed and sent the head off to CL Lee Saturday morning. After thinking about it, I realized it would be much cheaper and simpler to just let Clarence do it. Matt

Homebrewer,
The 1/4x32 is a standard, it is UNEF (extra fine). I don't think you will find a supplier who stocks it. I checked MSC, Reids and McMaster-Car, and they didn't list it. You will probably have to go direct to Helicoil. Bear in mind, you will also need a 1/4x32 Helicoil tap and installing tool.

I sent my ST60 head to Clarence Lee (RC Modeler Mag.) to have
a helicoil installed. They did a super nice job. Cleaned and polished the head and got it back in less than 1 week.
