My mother brought over some things from the attick the other day well when I went through them I found the 1st rc engine I ever purchased with my allowance about 28 years ago,it has never been ran. Well my 12 year old saw it and wants to scratch build a plane for it . Does anyone know anything about this engine or this size engine, what is it capable of or should I just save it for a sovenior!!!!!!!!!! Thanks Joey

Well apparently they are quite heavy and also low on power...
They were recently hyped up and everyone within 1/2a just had to have one, but I'm yet to see one that has actually been in the air.
Best thing would be to bench run it and see what kind of numbers you get out of it. If you're scratch building you could aim for something like an oldschool glider, sort of assisted free-flight, rather than a wardbird style that would require a strong and lightweight engine.

I counsel all to think carefully before flogging any NIB engine in their collection for a wad of cash.
Sure, you'll make some money (which will probably end up being spent on more modelling goodies fairly quickly), but chances are that if your engine was anything nice or special you will eventually live to regret selling it.
Far better to hang on to it, run it, stick it in a plane and fly it. The satisfaction gained by doing that far outweighs any transient financial gain, and the engine will get to do what it was built for rather than sitting around in a dusty display case.

I have had the Fuji .099 IBS both in lapped iron and in ABC. The cylinder is similar to the Enya .09 (actually .099 too) in porting design. All of my Enya .09's out performed the Fuji's for some reason, probably due to better fitting piston and liner as well as better metalurgy. The Fuji's were nice , but they were turkeys compared to my Enyas. Needless to say I still have my Six Enya .09's and do not have my Three Fuji's anymore.

No...that's not necessary...I was just thinking that my 2 Fuji .15's are hardly collectors items (if ya know what I mean [:'(] ) and I wouldn't get my hopes up about your .099 being worth a whole bunch 'o $$ and what colingw said in post 13 probably says it best.

The model engine market is fickle, and it also has its normal up and downs. Right now with global economic turmoil the prices of everything are falling. In the past I have seen the NIB Fuji .099's sell for $150 bucks. One mans trash is another mans treasure. You just don't know how the market is going to go. One thing is for certain, however, and that is the longer you hold onto something the more valuable it will eventually become.

I have one. Flew it quit a bit on a little scratch built sport pattern plane. It ran nice but had less power than the old angled exhaust OS 10 or Super Tigre 11. It would go nice on a little House of Balsa Spacewalker.

I just bought this new (made in japan) fuji .099 for 26 bones on epay.
I doubt it is a highly sought after item, there were only two other bidders involved, one tried to snipe me, of course.
Is was an impulse buy, it looked interestin and was cheap. I hope this engine is worth the $26

In case you haven't realized it. There are not many of the awesome .09's out there that have a huge price tag of $149.99. The Fuji .099 was a POS then and is a POS now. You would have to have a "full frontal lobotomy gone wrong" to pay that much when there are better .09's for less. Example an Enya .09 directly from the factory at $54.94 and it will last 5X longer than the fuji AND out power the fuji.

I'm glad I did'nt pay much for this little engine, I'll post better pics and my opinions when this little jewel is delivered into my mail box.

I just hate to see anyone get duped by MECOA's Stupid high prices. I can't figure out any justification for this company charging $149.99 for this engine. There are so many better engines out there for "normal" prices. I just can't stand the thought of some Noob getting stung by this company, I hope the average noob gets some sound advice before dropping any cash.
