Default Engine for a SIG SE

Is an Irvine 53 to much power for SIG SE? I am looking
at moving up from a OS FX 40 from my trainer to little bit more
powerful engine for my SIG SE. Any suggestions?

Thanks,

Mike

No, in fact, this is one of the favorite engines for the SE. Do a search for SE and you will return more reading material than you could possibly handle in a week or more.

Only too much weight... which is not a factor with the .53.

I wouldn't put any other engine on mine. Absolutely LOVE the Irvine.

Irvine 53 is perfect!

Also, if you are into 4 strokes-

YS-63
Saito-72
OS-70

Great airplane-

Hey Mike, I think the Irvine .53 would be an excellent engine for your SE (love the .46 in my 4*), but you might also want to consider the Webra .50. I'll bring my SE out to the field tomorrow if you wanna try it out. I haven't flown it for awhile, so that will be a chance to run some fuel through it. Hope to see ya there...

I reckon an Irvine 53 would be perfect for a SIG SE, and that's from somebody who has two SEs with Saito 72s in them!

The Somethin' Extra and the Irvine 53 go very well together. The stock gear and suggested wheel size has just enough clearance to swing a 12" prop. I use 12x4s, 12x5s and 11x6s. Vertical and hover is best with the 12x4.

My SE really came alive when I put an Irvine 53 on it! It now pulls out of a hover with authority!
