Am repairing a ASP .46 for a friend and had trouble removing the con rod from the crankpin. There is a clearance groove in the bottom of the crankcase for the con rod, which makes it diffcult to remove it. Normally I would remove the liner and place the piston at BDC and the rod would come off easily, but with this clearance groove the lower part of the rod can't come out. I did finally manage to get it off using an allen key as a pry bar, but there must be an easier way I"m not seeing. Any suggestions, thanks. red

I put the cylinder pointing down
remove the liner
and with the piston at top dead center, and with my index finger I pull the rod from the crankpin

Well I figured it out. Long story short, the con rod was stuck to the center of the wrist pin. This prevented the con rod from moving to the rear and coming off the crankpin. thanks for the reply. red
