I recently bought a plane with an OS61 Max SF engine and 7L carb. On the second flight the main wing broke and a few seconds later I had kindling. The carb and muffler were broken off the engine. Being a tool maker I repair most things, but have serious doubts about welding the 1/16 wall carb body. It broke off where it fits into the engine body. Any repair suggestions will be appreciated.
So far I have not located spare parts from the OS web site. Perhaps someone can help with a source for this OS 7L carb or the E4010 muffler. Are there other carbs that will also fit the 61 SF as I know some of the older and smaller OS engines had carbs that interchanged.
Thanks guys for any help or advice you can give. This is my first try at this forum.

Here is a link to the Perry carb infomation page. It has several references to OS .61SF engines.

Is this your engine? I have had a lot of luck with parts from other manufacturers like GMS and Thunder Tiger for mufflers and carbs. I might have an extra carb here you could make work.

Yes, that is a pic of one like I have. It is a ringed engine. I'll attach a pic of current conditions.
Thanks to each of you for responding. I am leaning towards welding this one after I talk to someone on Monday. That may change my mind.

Maybe an internal sleeve type repair would work?
Close fitting thin wall aluminum or brass tube JB welded in place. Match the broken off external 'neck' piece to the body, clamp in place. Dremel grind off the excess JB Weld after it sets. Or, if you are careful, there won't be anything but a small fillet left fairing the sleeve in place. There'll be no heat involved with the chance of deforming the body in some way and it can be done at home.

Pjtrax,
If this engine has no sentimental value to you (and I suppose there is very little reason for it to), just get a replacement engine...
The normal SF was never considered any 'OS paragon'...
You can easily obtain a new ABC .61 engine... A Magnum will cost you $105 (less as the ASP), an ST will cost $100, a Tower will cost you $90...
The Magnum/ASP are essentially OS SF clones, made by Sanye, with a much better, true ABC construction.
Going into all that trouble and cost of finding parts for this defunct engine, will not reward you with anything better than cheaper engines you can buy new...

He will have everything you need at very reasonable prices.
Why buy a cheap engine. You have one of the best O.S.
He'll send you pictures of the parts before you pay for them.

OS 61 SFs and RFs are still available ...
... as NEW IN the BOX as well as used engines. They will be found on the various auction and classified sites on the internet and on the shelves of some LHSs. The OS 61 SF is a very good, dependable, powerful engine capable of turning large diameter, steep pitched props for good speed and vertical performance. Maintenance items such as bearings, rings, cases, mufflers, headers/pipes, back plates, replacement carbs are available as well.
