Thanks for the input. I've used common sense for many years and have never stripped a plug or had one come loose (though I've seen/heard of both many times!) Oddly enough, though, I have never seen a spec provided anywhere for plugs. Since too loose or too tight can mean disaster, you would think that a nominal torque for such a critical item would be readily available, not impossible to find!

What are some recommended torque values for glow plugs? I can't seem to find any specs on this at all! Any help on this one? TIA!

I would suggest you get something like a 5/16" craftsman nut driver and use that to tighten your plugs. You will not be able to over tighten your plug with this straight handle driver.

scroll down a little on this link for a common torque driver that many racers use. Has some info listed. The numbers were based on the older Short Stroke racing motors, the newer motors tend to vibrate a tad more, and we have increased the torque slightly.

I have found, you can find a much better deal on a certified torque driver on that big auction site.

I use a standard 4-way plug wrench, available from Tower.
Run the plug in finger tight and then grab the wrench. Then, using just my middle finger and my thumb on the wrench, tighten just a hair past finger tight. About 1/20 of a turn. Never had one come loose.
