Default OS Max-S .35 Muffler

I have an older OS Max-S engine, given to me by a long time acquaintance. The engine does not have a muffler. I have been searching for a muffler to fit it, via the internet using model #os-703. But have been un-successful on finding one. The size is .35 Does anyone know where I can get one for it?

If it is an old FP series then a FP 40 would fit or a magnum 40 would also work.

How old is this engine?

Could you post a pic perhaps?

Understand...that if the engine is much before the early 80's....many didn't HAVE mufflers back then. Mufflers were an option...often not included, and open header running was rather common.

Sounds like an older cross-flow OS. Check e-bay. Davis might have something....there's options out there.

OS S was made in the late 60's I think. Long ways from an FP. Cast Iron baffled piston engine.

That's OK!!!

Those were good engines. Forget "umlimmed Vertickle" <SIC>
but it's iron baby....

Perhaps a macs header and a mousse can would work.

Yup youd be luckey to get 11,000 on a 10-6 with it. But iron lasts forever. Couse some of us would be long bored of the engine anyway.

Nothing to be bored with Sport....

These were fine engines. It depends on the application!

My lawnmower engine has lousy 0-60 times, but it sure cuts grass a lot better than my BMW!

That muffler P/No sounds right but could be near impossible to buy new now. It could be difficult finding another that fits because they have a much wider exhaust port than more modern engines. There's a lot of these used in CL stunt where they generally use what's called a tongue muffler.

The 35S needs a 25% all castor fuel, not so much for the iron piston as for the big end rod bearing. This is their weak point if less oil is used. If you're power mad then sell it to a CL guy who'll be delighted with it

You might check with RJL or MECOA & see if they have a KAVAN muffler & adapter to fit it . MAX H.

Thanks I will check them. You know that engine is a collectors piece, so because it is so old, I was just going to run it once without a muffler. Heck louder is better right? I used to attend fun-flys, and those things are noisy as all get out. Hee hee, well I don't even know if they make fuel for it with castor oil in it... or do they, or should it matter? I Quit flying planes about 10 years ago. Got to expensive. I still have my planes just incase one day I get back into flying. But right now I have gas R\C cars, (I'll have to post some pics of them when i get a chance). I have a Street Force GP, and a Ultra GTP w/ Celica body. Its a very fast car. Clocked at 95 MPH!

Sig, Fox, and Powermaster sell all castor fuel. But 50/50 castor and synth would also work, also 7% jet fuel with castor added to bring total oil to about 28% should also work.

I have a new personal website up now. It's totally un-related to model airplanes. Though, since it is up I figure I'd post the address if anyone who happens to come across this thread cares to take a look. The site focuses on the Ford Taurus SHO, and if any of you don't know what that means, it stands for Super High Output. It's Ford's performance sedan. Yet another one of my passions check it out at: http://home.comcast.net/~jhudspeth/home.htm

Thanks,
Bill

I got a control line S-35 right here, whats it worth to you all, I will trade for a good .46 r/c, this motor is very good runner and can probably have the r/c carb put on it.

Mentorman,
I've located both a new and used muffler (finally!) and the .35 is the biggest engine I've got. Thanks anyway for the response.

The 35-S uses the same muffler the 40R/C , 30 R/C and 35R/C use. It is the 703. There are zillions of them out there. That engine does not need 25% oil. 20% is fine and around 10% nitro. I have a couple of each.
