I'm having problems finding replacement gaskets to go between the motor and the exhaust pipe...
Would I be able to use a high temp silicon???

There is a guy advertizing in March 2010 issue of MAN laser cut engine/muffler gaskets. His web site is:

The gasket is not necessary. A lot of old fliers at my club tell me they make the muffler fall off. Istopped using them and haven't had a muffler come loose since.

For me it was a waste of time. Flown many years without them and not a problem. Seems when I do try one, it lasts few flights then the muffler is loose. I gave up on the gaskets a long time ago.

Sounds like I'm in a minority. I use them and make my own out of the thinnest automotive gasket paper I can get my hands on.
If you tighten the silencer bolts up while the engine is hot after the first couple of flights ... never a problem with screws backing out in my experience.

On the magnums/asp/sc 2 stroke engines, the mating surfaces are not machined so I would use a thin layer of RTV silicone, as I did on my Magnum 46 xls.
