Default Replacing .46 OS engine parts...

So my new .46 OS engine slammed into a tree, with the plane attached to it. I bought a new crankcase, backplate assembly, and gaskets. Anyone know how i get the crankshaft and cylinder assembly out?

Also for future (I hope not!) reference, when you open up the engine on these models do you need new gaskets or will the originals do?

No help yet? Well here goes , with the rear cover off I mark the rear of the rod with a small vertical scratch on the rod , I also mark the rear of the cylinder head the same way(it will go on 180 o out but this way you can use head gasket over). Remove the head & stick your thumb in cylinder & try to pull sleeve out , if your lucky it will come ( don't sweat location , has a alignment pin). If it don't come out , put a prop on crank & I use a old glow plug washer & drop it in cylinder & catch it in exhaust port , turn prop over & sleeve will slide up , should come out now . Don't force too much , may need to heat with heat gun & try again (wear glove) . With sleeve out rod will now come off crank pin . Remove prop & prop washer, tap on crank with wood block or wrap end of crank on bench top . Front bearing will come out with a wood dowel or brass drift & hammer( heat will help) . Large bearing removal is a little more of a problem , I have always got by with heating it with a heat gun & hitting rear of crank case on bench or wood block( glove again) . May need to repeat . Some put case in oven but have never needed this ( oven is for cooking & engines taste awful). Assemble in reverse , heat case & maybe cool bearings in freezer, line up with crank when installing. Don't force ! You can use gaskets over if you don't break rear cover one , put head gasket on in same position & it should work . Tighten bolts evenly. You probably have 6 answers by now ( one finger typer)Oh well , good luck & stay out of the woods , the bears will get ya ! MAX H.
