I thought i'd try a tower muffler on my tt .46 pro. I am running a APC 12x4 prop and with the stock muffler, the throttle response was fine. With the tower muffler it won't go past 1/2 throttle w/o dying. It seems that it isn't getting any back pressure from the muffler b/c when I disconnect the tubing from the muffler it acts exactly the same. Anyone have any suggestions as to how I could fix this?
P.S. What RPM is everyone getting with this engine/prop combo?
Regards,
Philip

I guess as a first step I would check the pressure nipple on the muffler to make sure that there actually is a hole in it. It could be that a bit of manufacturing debris is in it or that the hole was never completely drilled through.
I run the TT.46PRO with a Tower muffler and a 11 x 5 APC prop. I havn't tached it lately, but I did when I first put the Tower muffler on...... it boosted overall output about 5-600RPM, if I recall. I think it turns around 13,500, but as I said, I might not recall the exact numbers.
Anyway, it sounds to me like something may be wrong with your new muffler.

Well, FlyinHigh, you were right! It worked great after I cleared out the pressure nipple. The tower muffler boosted RPM by 600! My tt .46 now turns an APC 12x4 @ 13600! I was hovering my Avistar(great hover trainer huh!) with no problem.
