Default Thrust in pounds?

call me crazy but does anyone know how to get the thrust amount from an engine. My idea is to buy or barrow (no steelling) a digital fish scale. tie it to a post or in that fashion, the other end to your plane, (loop around the vert. fin and horiz, fin, over the top and under the horizontals. crank her up and pull the scale horizontal. (flat serface), I know it won't be exact, but close. does anyone agree or dissagree, or better idea? please help.

That's the way to do it. Just log your readings so you don't forget them.

Enjoy,

Default Thrust in pounds?

Hi !
Why do it in the first place???
In the air everthing will be different!
So why shoot for static pull?
Just buy some props and fly the plane and see which works best...or ask us here on the net which works best.

Regards!

Static thrust is always interesting if you want to optimize your aircraft. And it good for bragging too ...

You can also try this program. I have been using it for a few years. Its not perfect and makes some assumptions, but is surprising close to real measurements I've taken.

I was in The Navy and we always tested our Jet engines for Static thrust, that gives you a standing point to start to find out if having the rust and weight ratio in order, yes you have to compensate for drag and gravity ect... though he's rights I guess it would be neat for bragging with your buddies!!!!
