Lars,
Where are you getting the parts? Thanks,T.C. |
My UMS 7-77 is now well over 10 years old. Still going strong....sadly, it’s the owner thats showing signs of fatigue!
|
hi T.C. I bought my spare parts from UMS in India.
[email protected] [email protected] Hi Manu cc I push oil into the cam ring when I get home. I've never tried fat. If anyone here on the forum has used grease for the cam ring on 7-35.7-77.9-99 so tell us Lars |
OK, merci.

Beautiful Waco
My brother in law flys a Phoenix. The upgraded paint is magnificent. The 7-77 is perfect in the cowl and still visible. Looks like a nice fit. Congratulations. Great work there. How are you mounting the radial? I'm still trying to figure out how to mount my 7-90. I'm sure this has been answered 1M times, but whats the grease coming from out of the radial near the pushrod base? There is a decent amount that comes out everytime I run it. Is it a defect or a feature?? https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...5c333c8f51.jpg |
Are there any issues with mounting a 7-90 90 degrees to the side?

2 Attachment(s)
Voici le montage que j'ai fait pour le 7-77, une première plaque de 10mm collé et visé sur la cloison moteur, et une deuxième plaque de 22mm qui a la forme du support moteur

Flair Stearman with Evolution 7-77
|
Ziroli Stearman 87 inch
Next year, if the weather is good, my Stearman gets its maiden. The weather in the Netherlands is bad now. Many rain and low tempertures.
The Stearman has an Evo 7-77 radial, and runs very well. I am glad with this engine. https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...0e7f2199aa.jpg |
Fingers crossed...
For a great flight!

My Flair Stearman flew at 1/3 throttle with my Evolution 7-77
Im sure you will be pleased. |

Hey TomWithout looking back through the whole thread, do you remember the aftermarket carb upgrade for the 7-77. Just wondering. I plan on running mine this summer. It runs fine but lacks power. Hope for a new year and look forward to much radial fun for all.
Aaron Hi Aaron, It is the carb from the OS FF320 - O.S. Engines 46481000 FT160/FF320 CarburetorAdrian at CH Ignitions has the adapters if you do not machine your own.The only drawback is, it makes the carb stick out past the mount about 1/16 - 1/8" |
Yep, GI Jon is correct! You can make it so the carb does not stick out the back so far but critical machining off the screw holes half way and supporting the carb with a live center must be used. -Tom

Carb issues
Hi guys, I'm having issues with my glow cdi converted evolution 7-77. Can't seem to get a stable top end with the original carb running on glow, also the main needle does not seem to do anything as running it at 3 turns yields the same result as on 5 turns out...
AAnyone else with this issue and do the OS carb really make a difference? Appreciate any tips. |

Why in the world are you running glow??

To address your question Fly Pilot, yes the stock carb is terrible, lacking the ability to supply fuel enough at high throttle. The O. S. carb can give a better midrange and supply plenty of fuel at high throttle. -Tom

A new specific thread?
Hi all who are excited about the newer UMS Radials being distributed in the USA. I just bought a 115 from CH and have had it installed on a Phoenix Waco I bought flown prior but motor less when purchased. I would like to institute a new thread specific to these newer generation UMS engines. Sort of don't know how to do that actually.
https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.rcu...501c708d34.jpg Anybody interested? |
UMS Radials
I did not know UMS produced a 5-cylinder 115 radial and having just looked on CH-Ignitions web site, I did not see it listed as an available engine. I'm interested, so I would like to know where you purchased this engine. Also, is your Waco the 63" 1:5 3/4 version?
|
I would be interested. Under gas engines just start a new thread. Maybe title "UMS new radial Engines". I have the new Gas 55cc, 100cc 5 cylinder and the new glow 35 cc 7 cylinder engines. The 100 cc is a near perfect engine when using the APS power fuel pump. The 55 cc 5 cylinder had a lousy carb. The Saito 90R3 carb worked way better on gas.. -Tom
