crockpot temperature
has anyone measured the best temperature?
first time and the one wifey gave me was broken an only works on high so i put a variable transformer on it adjusted to 110 deg F. After 24 hrs the castor was their still, cleaner but still on muffer etc. I then had to scrub it of with a tooth brush is this the way it works or do i need higher temperature do'nt want to turn dark as some say on high setting it does Thanks rich |
RE: crockpot temperature
My Goodwill crock pot is set on low. 100% green O'Reilly anti-freeze (glychol based). Overnight. Cylinders & cases wonderfully clean - almost like new condition.

RE: crockpot temperature
i put mine on hi when i do mine seems to go faster than when on low but i will do this when working in the garage and check it every hour or so after the first three

RE: crockpot temperature
Between 150F and 170F is about right. You don't want it to boil
|
RE: crockpot temperature
Since 165 degrees F. is the lowest recommended temp for cooking meats, I would think the low setting is at least that. As W8YE says, keep it below boiling.

RE: crockpot temperature
My little Walmart pot has but one setting - on. But make sure it is not boiling like the man said. I always have to use a little elbow grease to finish up the job. Then I polish mufflers with a buffing wheel and jeweler's rouge. Come look great.

RE: crockpot temperature
My cheap one has a low and high setting. I use low.

RE: crockpot temperature
OK i see iam to low at 115F i had way to much elbow grease.
prestone was used at 100% my bearings are still red must be rust, an the pin still will not pull out of piston so you guys think at 175F the wrist pin may come clean on it's own i cannot scrub it thanks all iam upp the heat[&:] |
RE: crockpot temperature
Yes try more neat. Keep the bearings in theire. If the stain is smooth it is most likely castor varnish.
|
RE: crockpot temperature
Don't condemn the bearings as being rusty yet. Solidified castor will be red to amber inside that engine. More heat in that pot may clean that puppy up.

RE: crockpot temperature
just put it on Hi!
|
RE: crockpot temperature
But don't let it boil and don't breathe the fumes if it does[:'(]

RE: crockpot temperature
Thanks all
This mornin it looks a lot better upped to 170f to 180F bearings are cleaner but red thou it turns really smooth so going to see how it runs not going to screw around with piston an pin since all else looks new. btw it' an OS FS70 an it's all shiney now:D rich |
