Can you identify this engine

Hey there team, I have come into possession of a Sig Kadet Senior and I am trying to figure out the manufacture of the engine on it.
It only has markings that say 52 and then what appears to a 7 . S , Im fairly certain that is is not a number 7 but thats what it looks like.
I have attached a few quick shots of it using my phone so they are not the best but hopefully good enough for someone out there to
tell me what it is. Thanks in advance for any information provided!

I believe that's a TS? (what looks like a 7 is supposed to be a T)
I recall seeing ads for them...might have been sold by Kangke, about 10 years or so ago...but memory is fuzzy...

Made in China IIRC...similar to the blue JBA engines sold by justengines in the UK

Kind of a copy of a clone...(Magnum like) or vice-versa ;)

Hey proptop thanks for that information, makes sense. The plane was built about 10 years ago so that would be the right time frame.

Just getting back into flying and thought since its been quite a few years, I would use this Kadet Senior to get back in the swing of things.
I'm sure as long as it runs okay and idles then I am good to go.

Looks like it's got a tower muffler on it like what used to come with Tower/GMS engines. Those were Kangke engines too weren't they?

This engine was called the Lincoln 61, I tested it for a feller who was interested in selling them, it never came to fruition. The knock on it was it weighed 27 oz. It was very smooth and strong for a .61, pretty too. Also made by Kangke.

After comming back and re-reading this, another thought came to me...does Tiger Shark (TS) sound right?
They (Kangke) had quite a lineup of sizes too...I think it went from a .25 up to a 1.20?

These might have been made in the same factory as the GMS engines...badge engineering...
The Lincoln .61 looks very much "in the family" doesn't it!?

That sounds about right on the Tiger Shark. I've heard of them referenced in past threads/posts, but it's been awhile. I think you might be onto something there... I'll bet she's true ABC too.

You know Proptop, I had thought about Tiger Shark early on before I posted here then forgot to mention it in my post. I had looked on the Kangke USA website
early on as a search for TS .52 had brought up but their site but did not show any Tiger Shark engines just JBA and SK. I now have found Kangke USA Tiger
Shark page that does indeed show a Tiger Shark engine with the same exact logo on it as mine, so mystery solved! http://www.kangkeusa.com/Engines/tsengines.htm

You are absolutely right 1QwkSport, right from the description on that webpage I found showing the photo of a Tiger Shark.

Tiger Shark Engines are available in size .32 to 1.20 and feature true ABC metallurgy, over-bore design for more HP, excellent
power/weight ratio, cool operating temperatures and low idle speeds.

Dave - that Lincoln is purty... I wouldn't expect the Asian clone cloners to go to that length with all the paint work on that engine... 27oz! Wow! That's a chunk of weight...

Hey Tim...hanging in there...or at least trying to...thanks for asking...hope things are going O.K. with you too!

I remembered seeing that pic of the Lincoln...recognized the white building siding and engine test set-up Dave...nice looking engine if not exactly spectacular in performance, huh?

Was chatting with a friend about these engines last night...about them being true ABC (until you get to the larger ones)

I have an "Eagle" .46 (not a Fox, but a clone type that looks kinda like a TS / Magnum mixed breed... has a cast head) that a friend gave me after getting frustrated with it. Some of the carbs on the clone type engines are iffy at best...and after fiddling with it for a while I decided to try an experiment and swap a spare Webra .50 carb onto it...same neck dia....and that transformed it into a great running engine.

Yeah, the bigger engines (usually .90 and up) usually end up being ringed. If they had the gusto to use aluminum cylinder liners instead of brass, they could get away with not needing rings and run AAC instead.

I haven't had to deal with a truly poor operating carb yet... Knock on wood!
