You all were so helpful in i.d. ing my OS Max 61 V engine, I pose another question. Which is, what to use for a ring compressor when installing new piston rings in these glow engines that have rings ? Curiosity is killing me.

All I ever needed were my fingers.

The bottom of the sleeve should be tapered to help compress the ring and get it started into the sleeve.

Make sure the ring gap is aligned with the locating pin in the groove. If you don’t, you’ll break the ring in short order. Use lots of oil on the piston and ring before inserting it into the liner. Don’t forget to dress the liner with 400-600 grit emery paper too.
