OS .10 Runtime
 

I'm going to use a OS .10 to power a 2 meter glider I have. About what run time could i expect from a 2 oz. fuel tank. A 4 oz tank? I'm just looking to get it up in the air. Thanks for your help.

On a 2oz tank...10-12minutes
4oz will be rather much if you just want to get up in the air....

A 2 oz. tank will be more than enough. My .15 FP will run close to 10 minutes on a 2 oz. tank, so Jaka's prediction is right on the money.

On my glider a 4 minute engine run takes it as high as I dare without risking losing sight of it. You only need 4 ounces of fuel if you intend to fly around (aimlessly) for a long time.

4 oz an overkill I have an OS10 with a diesel head 4 oz tank after 25
minutes landed to rest the arms in a vmar 54" span cub still fuel left

How did that Vmar 10-15 size cub fly ?
Was she heavy and thereby fast, or was it a floater with that engine?
I want to get the L4 wwII version and put a .25 on it...what do you think of that combo ?

A very long time ago I used an OS 10 on a crudely built Aquila which from memory was around 2.5 metre span. Crudely built because I didn't expect it to last long seeing I'd never flown a glider before. However, 18 months later I made the mistake of letting someone else fly it..........oops.

I used a small control line tank which gave me enough fuel for 4 minutes and it flew the model quite adequately.

I'm interested in Dan's answer too, as I have one of these small Cub's still NIB. I forget whose name is on the box, but there were four or five different versions of the same model being sold when I bought mine a few years ago.

Since I bought the Cub, I have attained an OS FS-30 four-stroke, numerous TT .10's and .15's, an MVVS 2.5cc R/C Diesel, a new Enya Ultra11CX R/C and already owned HB .15 R/C and ST G20/15 R/C engines. Decisions, decisions, decisions...<G>

Some of the smaller models can surprise you in how well they can float, defying previous estimates based upon wing area and weight.

I broke in an OS LA .10 today using WildCat 10% nitro fuel with 18% 80/20 blend lube and a Master Airscrew 8x4 prop. I started it, let it run at 5,000 for about 30 seconds then peaked it, set it 2 clicks rich from peak and then set it at 10,000 rpm. Over the next 10 minutes it accelerated to 10,650 on its own. I then re-peaked it, it turned the 8x4 at 12,200. I set it back to 10,000 for 30 minutes. It ended up turning the 8x4 at 12,500 give or take a few depending on the breeze. It took an hour to burn 75% of an 8 oz tank. I sealed the muffler joints and bolt with Teflon tape and there were no leaks. Even after running one hour the engine is spotless inside.

Even though the carb only has the HS remote needle and no LS needle, throttle changes are instantaneous with no burbling and no hesitation. Its a keeper, soon to be a Diesel.

I actually timed my LA-.10 running wide-open on a 2 oz. tank of 10% and believe it was about 10 minuites. Since its on a glider as well, it never runs wide-open except at launch. Running out of fuel is really not an issue at less than full throttle. Yer neck is gonna hurt from lookin up, long before ya run a 2 oz. tank dry.;)

Not to change the subject but what are you all putting your OS .10s in? I'm thinking of a Lil Somthin Extra with an 8X4 prop.

I believe he is putting it in a mini-telemaster ( I am doing the same thing) a very well built electric ARF perfect for a conversion
to glow or diesel in th 06 to 10 range it could handle a 15 but thats really not needed martin
I just ordered TT GP10 can use that or my OS10

I have 2, .10s...one is on a HOB 2X4 glider that has landing gear and is WAY too heavy to be considered a glider. The other is going into a kit-bashed Gentle Lady which should have alot better wing loading.

I've been looking for a small bipe in the 33-36" range for another .10 but haven't found one yet. HOB has some nice .10 sized kits in 1/12th. stand-off-scale. Just no bipes![&o]

If anyone knows of a good .10 sized TWIN kit, I'd be all ears.

I have a HOB FW-190 kit and an OS FP-10.. I was wondering what size tank to use

I also got currous about .10 size twins and found 1 kit and a set of plans from MAN
