Have you considered aluminum?

Engine manufacturer's expand considerable sum's for R&D to find the right mixture of metal for all the components of a model engine. I seriously doubt you will have a positive experience with off the shelf brass/aluminum or what have you for the purpose of machining your cylinder/sleeves. You would also want to plate this component. Nickel plating is rather common as is chrome.

Again the metallurgy involved is substantial... The materials used for cylinders/pistons/rings/crankcase's are dissimilar by design. The materials and components thereof is most likely a mixture of metals for a given component part...

LOL
