Maybe some of the newer 40 gas engines are more powerful.
I am basing my judgement on the older engine design's such as the Zenoh's,Quadra's, etc.
Power to weight ratio is everthing if you want a plane that will hang on the prop and still be able to pull yourself out of trouble.

However; I do agree with you about the fuel issue. These engines
are very thirsty. And,yes I think they are too expensive.
But; I like the 120 size planes and for the time being; I have not seen any other engine,glow or gas that will fit this size plane and pull like a YS.

I've been flying along time and have not found a glow 4 stroke that has everything a YS has! Im thinking about this same topic, right now im looking to step up and buy a YS 140 for my TF P-51 that im building as we speak. I have a YS .120(s) in all of my other TF warbirds from my Strega to my P-40! And there is NOTHING like em......

Theres a guy here with a TF P-51 (.60 size) same as the one i have. And hes got an OS .120 4 stroke in his and my YS just out flys his like mad! I run a APC 15x8 prop with #1 2stroke fuel and also #2 2stroke.....I've tached my YS'es just over 10,000 :) We've even done the same with that guys OS with the same prop and fuel and i must say it did help but just not as much as the YS. :)
