being relatively new to rcu, this subject has probably been covered every vear since the forum was set up, please humour me- where can you obtain a list of types and specifications for glow plugs? and perhaps a list of manufacturers recomendations , heat ranges etc.are there any hard and fast rules or is this trial and error .we fly here in uk in all weathers except rain of course and seem to be affected temperature dips? we are using enya n03 plugs in the 2strokes and os8 inthe four str!okes all comments please[:-

The Enya plugs are occasionaly seen, They are somewhat expensive. You see them in four strokes about as often as 2 strokes.

The plug of choice for the four strokes is the OS "F".

The OS #8 is sometimes seen in 2 stroke engines but the OS A3 is much more common due to the cost.

There are complete lists of popular plugs and how the heat ranges run on here somewhere?

One company's hot plug may be colder than another's cold plug. There are no set standards. About the only thing you can rely on is the heat ranges within a certain brand.

Enjoy,

Jim

Seeing you're in the UK you might like to look at FirePower plugs at http://www.modeltechnics.com/glowplug/glowplug.html and follow the link to the FirePower Leaflet for test results on different heat ranges. But as Jim said, there are no standards and no cross references between different brands like there is for car spark plugs.

[The plug of choice for the four strokes is the OS "F".]

Or my choice, the Fox Miracle Plug.;)

edit- I missed your location. After all I only started reading a few days ago. I don't know about the availibility of Fox plugs in the UK. In any event I don't think you will be dissapointed in the OS "F"

The Hanger 9 Super Plugs have come into being in the USA and I've been buying the 4 stroke version for the last couple years.

Enjoy,

Whats the deal with the "p" series plugs from OS?

Some of the newer design engines have this "TURBO" head that uses this kind of plug. the only thing that sticks into the combustion chamber is the element hole.

Enjoy,

Jim
