RE: GLow plug thread size?
They are indeed 1/4 -32. Taps can usually be had from a large fastener house over the counter. In smaller towns the local hardware can usually have one for you in a weeks time.
Also several hobby hardware supplier stock them. You might also consider purchasing a 1/4-32 die at the same time to chase the threads on glowplugs prior to installation. It can save damage to a head caused from rough threads on the plug body. ORIGINAL: Mitty Hello Folks. I need to find out the thread size of a glow plug.Someone told me 1/4 x28 so it's not. Went to the ace, sears and went to the machine shop at work. They never heared of 1/4x32.Are we talking about 1/4x32 NPT??
Please advice. Thanks. Mitty |
RE: GLow plug thread size?
Its not a tapered thread. 1/4x32 taps and dies should be available at any serious machine supply house (not a hardware store) and Harry Higley sells them also through hobby shops.
Try an industrial supplier, ie, that sells to machine shops. They are not that uncommon... AJC |
