RE: Evolution engine
Didn't those "40 years" teach that the "standard" for tuning the engines is to do it with the tank about 1/3 full so that you are tuning the engine for a worst case, much like holding the plane nose up or nose down. I tune my engines on the ground for the worst case senerio, typically by holding the nose in the air and adjust accordingly, Its very doubtfull that it gets any worse. Holding a plane nose down won't tell a person squat about the tune,Its not the same thing as flying the plane, where forces and phycis take over. And I'm not talking a 1/4 of a inch off on tank height thats doable in most cases, but anything much more is not in most cases. My 40 + years has also taught me that them that just get there wings soon know everything there is to know about the hobby, if ya don't believe me just ask one *LOL*:D |
RE: Evolution engine
I usually just tune the 2 strokes by ear and fly a lap to see what it does. I'm usually on the lean side and richen it a few clicks. I use a tach with 4 strokes.
What I think is being overlooked is that the engines come with a range that is set by the limiters. The manual tells you how to adjust that range either way if you need to. If you need more rich then slide the collar that way and tighten it down. Simple. |
