Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
Is Quick Tech Hobby a Scam?
I placed an order 3 wks ago, my credit card has been billed, but I did not receive any merchandise yet. No reply from my emails, and their website is not active today. In addition, my credit statement now has unauthorized charges from Great Britian. |

RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
I always do a simple google search for any company that I have never ordered from before just to see what others have said no matter how big they look.
I quick search of quicktechhobby.com shows they have been doing the same crap (billing and no ship) since at least 2005. Sorry you got shafted but just call your Credit Card company and get the charges reversed before its to late. Its not hard to do. (I'd cancel and get a new CC # while your at it, others have had the same bogus charges show up to afterword too.) You can Try. Quicktech Hobby 660-827-3577 -Steve |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
Thanks for the advice. I already canceled the card.
I guess I got blinded by the fact that the GEE BEE Tiger Moth was listed. A kit I have put off buying, and now its discontinued. |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
I happen to have a Gee Bee Tiger Moth and I ordered a cowl for it from the the kit maker. I talked to him on the phone and he didn't take credit cards so I sent him a check for $12 which he promptly cashed. I have never received the cowl. I called him and he denied having ever received the money or anything about the transaction what so ever.
Apparently that is why Tower quit selling the Gee Bee line? Gee Bee Products (GEE) PO BOX 18 EAST LONGMEADOW, MA 01028 Donald E Foster (413) 782-3872 69 Intervale Rd, Springfield, MA 0111 I made cowl cheeks for the plane instead. |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
If you click on the garage sale button on their website, it links to a lot of deals on RCU. It apears this company is very active in trading here.

RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
This comes from their website:
Attempted Credit Card Fraud: Any order processed and shipped and is challenged by the cardholder is subject to a $35.00 miscellaneous processing fee for each occurrence. This fee will not apply if it is determined that the cardholder had no knowledge of the transaction (these transaction will be forwarded to the FBI). The fee will apply to transactions done with the cardholders knowledge with the intent to defraud QTH of product or services (these transactions are also consider credit card fraud, and at QTH discretion may result in prosecution). The fee will not apply if customer cancelled the order and QTH failed to refund any monies associated with the order within 30 days of the cancellation. Customer may cancel any order but must allow up to 30 days for refund processing from the date of cancellation - failure to notify QTH of canceling an order and the cardholder challenges the transaction, the fee will apply. They must be used to it... |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
This is on their home page in red text. But, from what I've read about this company I don't buy it.
" 10/03/2007 Installation of new computer for e-mails completed - Received over 7,000 e-mails today - will take some time to respond. Thank You for your patience. " |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
Sounds like B.S. to me.
If your a business you wait that long to fix a computer? or is it you pissed off 7000 people in the matter of days? If that was my business I'd be at the local library checking my mail and calling people. Plus like I said before this has been going on for years, I just can't figure out why they are still allowed to puch product here....[:@] -Steve |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
What I don't understand is if they are known "scammers" then why hasn't RCU censored them? Not pointing fingers guys!! Just asking.

RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
The best I can find, Larry Quick does not have anything for sale in the market place at this time. But he has sold something like 1264 items there in the past. He has 1 bad rating out of 99.
And though "BLW" pointed out, the "Garage Sale" link, --this is only a sales system software sold by RCU. There is a RCU disclaimer at the bottom of the page. |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
While QTH is still a registered member of the site, he has not visited the site in several months and his RCU store is closed. We're not sure what happened with his store, but his marketplace history is quite good.
Anyone having a problem with this hobby shop should be sure to write letters to the Better Business Bureau where the store resides. You may also want to contact the police in that city to file a fraud complaint. |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
If I am not mistaken, "Quick Tech" is just one of the names they go by.[:o]

RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
Contact your credit card company, You have a 6 month window for any dispute involving an off site transaction. You will be re imbursed and the credit card company will eventually revoke their merchant agreement with that company.

Hi,
I ordered 2 airplane from QTH 19/09/2007 and I didn't get any goods or answer to my emails from them :-( I tried to call QTH by phone but a woomen taken up telephone receiver and she said it is a private flat. Now I taken an accusation at international credit card company. Regards, Peter Hungary, Budapest (sorry my English is very simple) |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
I wish you success in recovering your money.
I came very close to placing an order with them, but I got suspicious when I couldn't find certain information on their website, although I could still have gotten scammed if the info had been there. I have dealt via mail, email and phone conversations since the late Sixties and I've only had two instances of fraud or near fraud. Fortunately, Carl Wheely (AMA) intervened for me once and I received a refund. The second time there was nothing that could be done for me by anyone, so I took the hit. But in all of those years, with all of the transactions I have completed, I have learned that the vast majority of folks are good people. Sorry you found one of the bad ones - although I will reserve final judgement until we learn a bit more about the situation. Who knows, the owner could have been in an accident and is in the hospital for all we know... Ed Cregger |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
I can relate - my one and only bad feedback on the 'bay is a case like that. I listed an airbrush for sale, then that day had a car accident that had me in the hospital for 3 1/2 months, off work for another two. The airbrush sold while I was in intensive care, the guy sent money via paypal, and of course I didn't ship it. Since I never claimed the money via paypal he was able to get his money returned, thank goodness. I talked with him via e-mail when I was out of the hospital and he understood, but by then it was too late to retract the feedback.
So - I ended up giving that airbrush away to my son-in-law. I figured it was bad luck to try and sell it on 'bay! |
RE: Warning about Quick Tech Hobby
It is so easy to get bad feedback on eBay that it is inevitable if you do enough transactions. I'm still 100% positive, but I've had some very understanding and truly nice folks to work with. I'm not silly enough to think that it is going to last forever. I'm waiting for transaction number 310 to roll over the scoreboard.
Oh, Saitos engines. Yeah, I love them, but I don't think they walk on water. Close, but no cigar (Jennifer Flowers). Ed Cregger ***corrected the young ladie's name. |

Note it says "any order processed AND SHIPPED" . . . if you never got anything, this should NOT apply, as per their own verbage . . .
