RE: Is this normal?
The USA system was set or defined back in the 1930's
|
RE: Is this normal?
Then it makes sense that by the time Europe set it's own standard (late fifties?) the technology was in place to adopt a higher resolution from the beginning. That's what I meant. I should have called it H'er D, not HD.

RE: Is this normal?
rcdude7, there was another thing I forgot to mention, when I had to adjust the valves on the engine one bank was clean as a whistle and the other one had the black oily mess all over the rocker arm and under the cover too. I'm guessing that bank is the exhaust valve side with the black oily mess. |
RE: Is this normal?
Waco Driver, your right about that rocker arm shaft being loose! It was the first thing I checked and I couldn't believe how loose it was, with that tightened and the valves adjusted the engine ran a lot better. With the other suggestions mentioned here like the 12x9 prop and richening the engine a bit more I couldn't tell any difference in the performance of two flights I did during lunch time at work....YAHOO!!!!
I couldn't wait to try these changes out and they worked great! The engine ran right around 9650 lean so richened it up to around 9500 and had trouble at all and NO BLACK oily mess at all! Thank you everyone....you probably saved my Saito! |
RE: Is this normal?
pywackit- good thing you checked. Glad the engine is running fine again
rainydave- that is exactly what happened. Yes, they had more scan lines than we did. They also had a better color range (gamut). You can see our limitations mostly on reds. Look at live shots and you will probably notice shimmering colors. Those are the incompatible ones. Hollywood has technicians to select only the right colors for filming. I don't know how HD is progressing in Europe. |
RE: Is this normal?
Dave, I have a couple of Saitos and an Enya .46 MKII that are 17 years old with lots of time on them. I have used WildCat 10 and 15% fuel with 18% 80/20 lube for most of that time. Some PowerMaster with the same percentages was used also, I've never added castor and have never had to replace a single bearing in my fourstrokes. Can't say that about my two strokes though. I also have two early RCVs that I've run on WildCat 10% with 16% lube, (they recommend against the 18% lube).

RE: Is this normal?
Hi!
And over here in Sweden ...and in the rest of Europe, 10-15% all synthetic oil is the norm these days. No one uses castor oil in their fuel today...except we pylonracers who are bound to use it because of the regulations. |
RE: Is this normal?
Jaka- I've read where many people in Europe still use castor.

RE: Is this normal?
Get a digital caliper; you can switch from metric to inch after measuring.
|
RE: Is this normal?
We Americans always think we have the best. Japan invented and had HD TV first. Who says 50 cycle is better than 60 cycle. I think thousands of an inch is as close as we got to metric and has served us very well. Oh if you had every once of business in Europe ( 100% ) it would only be 1/12th the US business. Turn that into metric...........
