Does yours turn off like a switch or does it blubber on a bit?
OK, I fixed my Irvine .39 not shutting down problem by making sure that the carb is pushed down firmly before tightening the bolt; But:
When you shut the throttle down, it still wants to blubber on for a couple of seconds before actually quitting. I'm almost sure that on my air bleed carbs (OS LA) they shut down immediately, so - Do yours shut down immediately (almost like a switch), or do they blubber on a bit? |

Same on .61 SF-P --> instant stop.

blubbering on
HI it sounds like there is a small air leak around the carb. You need to find some o-ring lube...I think it is a silicone based lubricant....and reinstall the carb. This extra grease might seal the leak. Do not use petroleum based grease on o-rings! It will deteriorate them in short order!
Hope this helps! Regards Mark |

I have heard of those problems on the Irvine, GMS, and Tower (GMS) engines...Seems common with all of them. All the engines I have ever had shut down real quick with the throttle closed. No problems...

Lube?
Found some stuff in the auto store the other day, I think it was caleed di-electric grease - used for spark plug caps etc.
Anyway it said 100% silicone. The engine still runs on a bit, but at least it does shut down.... :) |
