RE: Piston Ring End Gap

I was within 1/8 of a mile from there tonight but it was too dark to snoop around. If it is an airfield or open space I'm going to approach the owner and ask permission to use the field. If the person is an airplane nut he or she will probably be OK with it. I do not want to join a club if I can avoid it. I can find a better use for the $90.00 membership dues and I'm not too keen on being "checked-out" prior to flying. Heck, we're talking control line here.

You aren't too far from the Michigan/Ohio border and pretty close to ol' Lake Erie. Gawd, Taylortown is as flat as Kansas. You can probably fly out of your backyard.

Google Earth. w8, you've GOT to download this. The next best thing to a flight simulator I have ever seen. Coose a location and you get an aireal view that you can zoom in and out on and then drop down to a topographical view, don your flight suit and step into your SR71 Blackbird and fly at Mach 3 anywhere you want. You could travel from Taylortown to Burtchville, MI and not burn a drop of gas.

Some how we have gone from ring end gap, ring material, notable skilled machinists, web maps, and now flight simulators. Did I miss a topic?

Heck, I'm a follower not a leader. I "Cast My Fate to the Wind", along with my expendable cash.

The thread must have drifted on the same wind you cast your fate on...:D;)

Yeah maybe it "broke wind". Actually I'm grateful to all because I learned more than I ever imagined with a simple question. I admire the folks at RCU and am fortunate that I didn't give up trying to join. I had a heck of a time getting RCU to accept a "handle" for me. I gave up a couple of times but being pig-headed . . . RCU is a remarkable fraternity of cyber consciousness.

After all, this is . . .. A discussion forum.

I think we solved the end gap situation long ago thanks mostly to Frank Bowman. Since then it has just been general discussion.
