Default Restoring old timer

Hi, my father gave me an old Aeronca Champ the fuselage is covered in fabric and dope which is then painted, the paint have started flaking due to 20 years of just laying on the shelves, the wing where covered using shrink fabric, and can still be recovered with a little heat hopefully, my question is, is there any way i can restore the fuselage or is it better just to remove the dope and fabric, or is there a way too remove just the paint and saving the fabric to repaint.
