Default Would Bob Palmer Approve?

This is a Veco Thunderbird built from a replica kit and modified for RC. Four channel and powered by an OS 50 fourstroke.
It has been flown on and off for the last 10 years and is a great sport flyer.
This is the result of a friend and I talking about how great the outlines were on some of the old controline stunt ships.

I also have a Ken-Hi Panther scaled up to 84" span with a Moki 1.8 slated for it.

These old birds still look great in the sky even 50 years later.

Maybe Bob would have approved.

Dick, thanks for the compliment.

I will try to take some pictures of the Panther and post them here. I always admired it's outlines as a youngster even though it could not hold a candle to a T-bird for flight performance. Basically all I did was maintain the general outlines of the Panther and changed the moments and airfoil into a better set of conditions for an RCbird.

That is one VERY nice looking aeroplane. I am sure Bob would have loved it.
I've always loved the looks of the T'Bird.

I have always thought that many of the classic controliners would make great sport flyers either as original size or as scaled up or down sizes.
They have a look that is not to be seen in modern designs. That look may come from the fact that most of them came from the TLAR school of design where esthetics sometimes overuled aerodynamics, and vice versa.
