Can you blow up a 1/6 scale version (59in ws)? If so, I can copy mine.

I bought this kit (Pica YMF 3/5 1/5 scale) on ebay yesterday. as soon as it arrives, I will make anything you need available to you. This will be the third one for me, and I plan to keep this one, course I planned to keep the other two as well. Money won't talk quite so loudly this time

The 2 kits, 1/5 and 1/6 are virtually identical. I prefer the early Platt. I took every balsa part from their sheets and carefully traced them with a fine tip .05mm Dia Mech pencil with harder 2H lead onto 30 inch wide paper. I then took the 1/6th scale plans, which for the Platt were 4 smaller sheets, along with my pattern sheet to a good quality copy shop.

Some copiers will distort the lengths beyond reasonable limits. 1/4" oa either way is about as good as they get but some will produce unusable prints so run one, measure it for accuarcy and then proceed or not.

The 30 inch pattern sheet enlarged to 120% of orignal size now became a perfect set of 1/5th scale patterns on 36 inch wide paper. There is virtually no difference between the 2 kits. The 1/5th has some of the bulkheads made in 2 pieces to make using standard size ply easier. The Platt kit has wooden wing tips which are easier to work with if you are enlarging plans. The newer 1/6th Pica Waco plans are on 2 not 4 sheets so I don't know if they enlarge so easy.

Then go to fiberglassspecialtiesinc.com and get your beautiful 1/5th scale Waco epoxy glass parts and there you have it. That's exactly how I got my 1/5th scale out of my 1/6th scale with absolute perfection.

I saw the new WACO ARF that Cox is coming out with at Toledo this year. It really looks good but I couldn`t really look it over good. If you consider that finding a 1/6 Waco will run at least $150 plus covering etc. the ARF is really a pretty good deal at around $390 retail.

Flying an ARF is like kissing your sister. It may be fun, but would you want to be seen doing it?
