John,
Thanks for the contact info for Andy, he sent me a copy of the original sales slip of tail #14132, the plane was painted insignia blue and white and it had red interior. It even tells how far appart the scallops are on the wings. It also list all the gauge part #'s for the instrument panel.
Later!

Charles,

As Charlie (lazyace) said it is on the first page in the first post. Find the item you are interested in and then click on one of the numbers following and it will take you to that post. Read that post and maybe the following couple of posts and you will be able to get the info you need. If you dont find anything just ask and someone here will be able to answer your question.

Thanks Bill,

I was looking at the one Hughes500E posted on post #719. Not scale but much better and stronger than the one supplied with the kit. The little tail wheel bracket that comes with the kit looks like it was designed for a little .049 model. Should be easy to make a ply former for the mounting.

Hey, Rick...email incoming to you.

BTW: oldflyer123 has offered to take the WACO copy I send him and put it in pdf format so those interested can download it as an aid to building. Thanks, Ron! Watch for it in the near future if you are interested.

Soft landings.

Joe,
I was out of town for a few days. Came back today to find my copy in the mail. Thanks so much. I'll take it to work tomorrow and create PDF in the case that no one else has yet.

Avaiojet,
I love the paint job/scheme on your 30 year old WACO. When you redo it will you be repeating the same scheme?

Rick,

Thanks for that paint comment, but that model isn't painted. It's all Ultracote. Interesting though, I covered it years ago before I even had a computer for graphics. I painted lettering then. I have a sign and graphics business.

I cut the "Charlie's Flying Circus" by hand. CFC Graphics. Get it? Charlie's Flying Circus. No I didn't make that up, I was taged by another modeler in the 80's.

Anyway, I did the smaller lettering about 12 years ago. I'll strip it to the bones and do a recover. Paint this time. I hope to find something interesting that is actually on a Waco. If not, I may use that "Rothmans" paint layout.

Hello everyone. I suppose I am #115? I just received a Pica YMF-3/5 with some Stan's fiberglass wheel pants and engine cowl. If anyone has any unbuilt kits laying around, there are dummies like me ready to buy them for a tad over $350 dollars. (grin)

I live in Japan currently-well, for the last three decades anyway, and have been lurking on this thread for awhile now. I am pleased to make your aquantances, and I very much appreciate all of the valuable ideas, input and comments from you all.

This is my fifth kit, and my plan was that this one would be the model I actually pattern off of an existing plane. I am not at the scratch-build level yet.

I need to finish an old Boddington Bipe 72" first, (some of you Britons should recognize that?) so I have nothing to contribute or post on the YMF yet...except to say that I have always wanted to build this plane because it is beautiful.

Dave.

Well winter is creeping up on us here in the "frozen north" I doubt I will get baby up again this year unless we have a real warm, relatively windless Indian Summer in November! I guess we'll just have to settle with flying the LT40 on skis! However I did get a few shots of my Waco on her last few flights this past weekend. We still have some issues but most are straightened out. I think I may change my top wing from a slightly negative incidence to a slightly positive one. That may change the nose down attitude. Anyway, here are a couple of shots with which I will keep myself warm over the cold season. Taking off - Landing - Coming home!
Cheers

Jim,

The Waco when trimmed correctly appears to be flying somewhat tail high. Try this.....Find the true datum line on the fuselage, set both wings at zero. The horizontal stab will probably wind up at about 2.5+ to make the wings fly with the correct attitude of the fuse.

Gee Dave, becoming a member, it's that easy? Then you have my number. I thought you had to be asked or sponsored to become a Brotherhood member?

I guess I'll be #116. That'll work. If that's all right with the other Brotherhood members, especially #1.

Because I built my Waco 30 years ago, can I "bump" someone and get a lower number? Just kidding.

Are you guys "purists?" That is, how do you view semi-scale Wacos, or kits that are bashed to become Wacos?

Charles,

I'll cut you some slack, and let you choose your number this one time. The way it works, and if you had actually read the entire thread , you would know that you need to ask to become a Brother. Okay, Okay, that's enough griping......You are Officially Brother # 116. Bump someone and get a lower number? That'll be the day. Yeah, we'll let you in with your bashed/semi-scale Waco. We even let ARF's in.

Bill,

Thank you very much, you have no idea how flattered I am. I'll do my best to live up to the high standards of the Brotherhood.

My Waco is the Pica kit. I also built the thing 30 years ago obviously when I was younger. I'm older now but still build the same. Go figure. I'm actually lucky I can see parts let alone use power tools.

I didn't know there were ARF Wacos. Where would one find them?

Incidentally, some ARF's aren't assembled all that badly. A good starting point for someone like myself that doesn't have a great deal of time to build.

Thank you for #116.

I was invited via email/PM a couple of weeks ago by Bill. However, and just so I don't have to undergo the painfully embarrasing initiation ritual, Charles can have 115, and I will take 116, or even 1369.

I've been in enough clubs in my life, including 22 years worth of Uncle Sam's Misguided Children to be able to adapt to any number assigned to me.

Bill, when to I get my leather vest with logo and skull and crossbones on the back? Hey, since Charles built his Waco 30 years ago, shouldn't he have a negative number?

Happy Friday all. (at least it is in this hemisphere)

Dave,

The numbers don't change. If you want to be a patch holder, then have at it. We are trying to get enough Brothers to order a couple of new T Shirts to make the run of them cost effective. If you look back through the thread, you can find them. The logo on the back is the same as my avitar, only bigger.

Initiation ritual ? >perk< I like it!

ARF's? Cox did one in 1/5th scale, one in 1/6th scale. SIG has the SRE available too. From all reports, it is a nice plane. Kange did a UPF-7 some years ago. I don't know if it's still available. It was a good flyer as well.

Dave,

Thanks for the offer, but I believe I'll stay with lucky #116. I'm happy just to be in the game.

Obviously I was kidding about you having my number.

That 30 year thing. It's more like 27 years but who's counting.

I'd like to know more about that Boddington Bipe? I did a Google. Are you drawing your own plans? Which bipe is it?

Can you do photos?

That "gig" you have in Japan, are they hiring?

All tongue in cheek Bill....except the initiation ritual. I recommend a short quiz on the contents of the last 290 pages. I'm only up to about 160 or so. Should still be a prospect. lol..

I didn't even know about the T-shirts. Must be after page 160. (grin) Sure I'll join in on the order if it cuts the costs. I'll have the only one in Japan.

I replied via PM Charles since I got off Waco a bit. lol. I am glad I can remain 115. With an addled mind, I need numbers that are easy to remember.

If you like the Waco, you will probably like the Boddington Bi-Stormer. Show up at a US field with it and you are the only one with one. DB models still cuts the kit. It's not as "classy" as the Waco by any means, but it will probably be a durable plane with scale flight characteristics you don't cry over on bad landings. At least that is my intention.

It appears that Cox has dropped all of thier Pica line; Wacos, T-28 and Dualist are all "out of stock" or "no products found".

The Kange Wacos are now Super Kraft and are 1/7th size (51" .40-.60 power) available thru ATS RC http://www.atsrcplanes.com/ but they are kinda stand way off ARFs (at least from the pictures on the website).
