RE: WACO YMF
Welcome to the brotherhood Jason & Ken and Sevans16. I’ll be looking forward in your build.
Robert,
Your Waco’s moving along quite nicely and looking great.
Ed,
Bomber field is a fantastic looking field. I would love to see a Waco fly in but don’t think I could make the trip. I’m vary lucky to be living within 30 min of Lakeland home of Top Gun, Fl Jet and Monster planes I get to see all these world class planes and meet some of the pilots. I also get to see Bill (stickbuilder) Mitch and his beautiful Waco and a few other Brothers that attend. Thinking about that I guess I’m a pretty lucky guy LOL.

RE: WACO YMF
flite metal,
ed, thanks for the offer, it seems all of a sudden i've fallen into a world of new of information, me thinks i cried wolf too soon. my plain was to build a yfm with documentation for the construction and detail end then provide documentation of a ypm for the color schem and trim. i did think about converting the yfm to a ypm, it looked simple but when i investigated it became complex. i now found a yfm that i'm woking on using just waiting for the owner to reply.
to answer your question ed, yes that info was of help and will be used to present my documentation at a later date.
right now i have a bowing or warpage situation to correct, it seems there must have been a lot of humidity here last week while i was away the leading edges and two ribs now have bows in them. oh well!!
thanks again

RE: WACO YMF
All parts now covered, stitched, taped, poly-brushed, glass and metal parts epoxy primered, ready to apply the poly-spray tomorrow, maybe colour on the weekend???
As I have said, I am not replicating any particular YMF, this model is for flying, not competing. I chose a colour scheme from Airliners.net for a UPF 7. Dark green fuse, cream wings and tail feathers, black trim outlined with a fine yellow stripe.
I've been working my bu** off to get this done in time for Monster Planes in Oct....5 months to this stage. almost burned out, but not quite. This is the most concentrated time I've ever put into a model. Can't wait to see it in the air and listen to that 400.
Cheers,
Dave.

Sorry, pic.#3 should rotated.

Bill, Robert Thanks for the welcome. I just wanted to get all my material together befor I asked to join the brotherhood. I definately will post all my pics of the build. Do you guy's think I should hand cut my parts or send out to be CNC'ed. I have a good cutter. I'm up in the air about this. I'm very proud to be brother #209, thanksagain George

George,
I agree with Bill cut the parts your self. If I do decide to build it will be my second. I don’t have any thing on the table at this time and I can’t think of any thing I’d rather built than another Waco. Am I nuts??

RE: WACO YMF
Bill, I have one question, may seem silly but do the templates cover all the parts necessary for the build. I want to get a good estimate on how much balsa and ply I need, Thanks George
RE: WACO YMF
George,
The templates cover the complete parts list as Bill traced each part from a new kit. Some of the parts such as the wing joiners, associated ribs, aileron servos, firewall, tail wheel mount will be changed (made of different materials or shaped differently) when you do the modifications to the airframe as suggested by the members. It is suggested that these mods be incorporated to enhance the structural integrity, improve scale fidelity and ease of accessibility to the internal components. Who knows, you may even come up with your own mod (if you do, please share it).
Check the mods, you may need more plywood. If you need the short manual it is on the House of Moy site http://www.houseofmoy.com/waco/ which is back up or send me a PM.
While you are at the HoM site, download the early plans for reference, the current (AMA) version does not have the additional info.
IF you need the Plans and documentation source list, let me know. The link from the HoM site is broken.

RE: WACO YMF
Well, I'm cruising now. The right side is done. Yes I know there not quite scale and missing one to the rear. But close enough for me.
Could someone tell me what the stick is called and why it's used. I would assume to stabilize the wire's in the middle.

acerc,
The javelin is often made in 2 or more pieces. Some times they are just lashed to the wires (P3) as on 1932 ATO NC 5533, the Baby Ruth airplane. Below are 2 photos (P1 & P2) of the wires passing thru the javelin on the 1987 Waco Classic YMF, NC 14081.
