The roto engine sounds sweet but to large I have to get some thing that will fit inside a 9.5 cowl. Please any other suggestion welcome.

I have been reading about the saito 57 gas..
It should fit in your Barth 1/4th Waco...

The saito 3cyl Gas Radial WILL fit as well, perhaps a TINY about of rub from one of the rockers....not sure on that though..
This would be plenty of power...

I just ran in my saito 325 radial, and do not have any regrets installing this in my soon to be Waco..
Once I make the exhaust collector, and run it in properly, I am not worried about the oil...it will be minimal
It is big for the bird, so I can run low to zero Nitro...so cost will be minimal...

The Evo 7-77, and OS 7cyl radial.... The price is quite high though for the OS.....Albeit, much more reliable though...

Hello all,
The Barth kit has arrived and I have it unpacked. All the parts are neatly marked and together with rubber bands. Doesn't look like a lot of wood but I’m sure that will change when I start building. There are a lot of glass parts and the cowl has vary nice detail work also the aileron are already built and has the detailed skin already attached. So far every thing looks good I have a few things to finish on the 1/5 scale Waco then I’ll start the build.
Dan,
Will you be doing your build here, or on another forum on RCU? I'm hoping for here.

I've wondered why some of the Brothers chose to post their builds elsewhere.

Nice job Anthony. Looks good, and looking forward to video. Remember the Jim Pepino 1/4 YMF? How did it fly?

Hi Mike,
I never flew the Pepino Waco. I donated it to the Waco Museum a few days before I crashed my 1/3 last year. It is on permanent display at the museum.

Here is a link the Waco flight video from today. This was my wife's 1st attempt at video and I had to do a lot of cutting and splicing to get any usable video.

Hopefully the footage my buddy shot will be better.

Anthony,
Again great job your Waco’s beautiful. Did your hart rate go from normal to sky hi when you landed? I know mine did. I get that bounce on my landings more times then not and usually end up on my top wing. I would like to hear from you and others on the best way to land the Waco with out getting the bouncing I haven’t found it for myself yet.

Hi Dan,
I have had a couple people tell me that you need to input a little down elevator as soon as the mains touch and this will stick the front wheels and minimize the bounce. This sounds contrary to landing the average tail dragger but the Waco has so much weight aft of the gear it should be OK. I am going to try this my next time out. I will let you know what I find out works best for me.
The 2nd and 3rd bounce scared the crap out of me The 2nd flight I let a buddy of mine shoot several landings. His best landings were holding it off the runway with the elevator until the plane wouldn't fly anymore and just settled down with a small bounce. His fist attempt was a good bounce just like my landing.

My best landing on the Waco was the maiden after the initial build. I greased it in on the mains and haven't done it since

Yeah I am sure they would do the trick but not an option for me at this time.
I will have to learn how to control the landings.

Here’s a few shot of the progress so far. I have to make sure I have bulkheads 510 & 511 installed correct before I go any further. The instructions say install both so the noses are positioned at the RH side for installation of cargo door. To save my life I couldn't figure out what the plans were talking about they look the same on both sides to me. Then I did notice one side was different as you can see in the picture. I have both bulkheads installed with the A side on the right side of the fuselage.
Peter is this correct?

Dan,
The cargo door is on the left side of the fuse. I would definitely stop until you get confirmation from Peter on the orientation.
