Default Engine Selection For 70's Pattern Ship Question

My set up is as follows:

Phoenix 7 with Rom-Air Tri Gear System.

I do have a Supertigre G60 Bluehead ABC engine
with an ED cranked pipe I could mount up.

But with many years out of the "pattern" experience,
are there any modern high output engines I should consider?

Thinking as YS, Rossi, OS.

Any help welcome.

Thanks, Ron..

The high performance engines from Jett, are very powerful and also US made. I think they make a 60 and 78 size. They advertise in just about all of glossy mags.

Hey Ron, I see you're from Zanesville. Is Rod Barnes still around? I had a lot of great times with him flying pattern in the 70's and 80's.

Jett, supertiger and Novarossi make rear exhaust motors for your Phoenix.

Tony. I haven't forgot you but I'm trying to find Rod's phone number.
Last I remember, Rod spends about 8 months of the year in Florida.
If I find his number, I'll give him a call to see how he's doing.

We've got a couple of guys running 2-strokes in their 70's pattern ships here in our club. Both the Rossi and the YS seem to be quite powerful and pull the ships along smartly. The Rossi seems to be easier to set up than the YS (pumped) but I think in the end the YS 61 has a tad more get up and go. Could be that he's using it with a high performance muffler (can't remember the brand). I've had the Super Tigre with the pipe you mentioned and both the YS and Rossi would run circles around it. Twenty years of technology improvements do make a difference.
