They fly great, like a trainer - but learning to fly coordinated rudder/aileron will help. I think Proctor will sell individual parts if you need them to get it flying.

Only ever saw one fly but it was SOOOooooo pretty in the air.
Not much in the aerobatic department. Simple chandelles, the odd floppy loop and that's about it. Don't even think about inverted.
But on a windless day you can fly it around at grasstop height and have a ball hedgehopping over dandilions.
If you put anything other than a mild 4 stroke into that model I may have to come over there and hurt you... It's a model that more than any other demands that 4 stroke sound to go with the design. 2 Stroke it if you must at first but ask for a 4 stroke for your next birthday. They don't need much power at all. The one I saw flying did fine in the air on about 1/2 throttle from it's 40 2 stroke. This was a LONG time ago when 4 strokes weren't as common. And it didn't sound right even then.
If you're low in stick time I'd get someone to help you for the first few flights. It's very trainer like in it's flying but as I'm sure you can see from looking at it it's a bit fragile. It won't take kindly to the normal beginner mishaps during takeoffs and landings.
One good thing about it. With all that drag it doesn't build up speed in a dive very much. That's a good thing for a trainer.

Hello Buck,
Consider yourself very lucky to be given a Proctor Antic-what a sweet airplane! It has no bad habits and is pure, relaxing fun. My Antic is starting its 23rd year and the only maintenance required so far was engine valve adjusting, receiver battery replacement and replacing one drag wire. It draws a crowd because people like to watch its low and slow "antics".

Yes, it`s a wonderful design. I`m on my third one, current one powered with an OS .70 4-stroke. They are a blast to fly, and I`ve trained quite a few people on them. Actually, you can rig the wings with more dihedral which will help a little with roll/ yaw coupling. I used this model to learn about rudder use and slips.

John Cole and I need to fly our Antics in formation sometime...he has the Monoplane and I have the Bipe. Mine has an OS 90 four stroke and the only time that I get above 1/2 throttle is when I want to do a loop or stall turn.
Keep & fly your Antic...you will never regret it.

Hi Curly,
Thanks! The prop came from Proctor, I believe, and is for static display only. I did not build my Antic, but the guy that did cut templates and painted each color on the Super Coverite, then ironed it onto the wings. The bottom of the wings, fuse and tail feathers are all painted a dull, weathered red along with the Williams Bros. wheels. The wood on the front part of the fuse and some of the wings are stained.
I have a lot of fun flying the Antic Bipe and it always draws attention at the field.

Thanks rcjake. I have the biplane kit along with the 4 stroke, upeer wing center section and float kits. One of these days, I gotta clear off the bench and build it. I've seen them with German markings like yours, British and early aeroplane. I think I might do mine as a circa 1912 aeroplane or early 1916 AEF colors. "Watch out for the Hun in the sun".
I also have the plans for one done as an Albatros DII that was published in Scale R/C Modeler a few years back. The designer borrowed heavily from the Antic bipe to do it.

Hi,
Above you reply area, there is an area that says "for reply with full features and options, click here", click on the "CLick Here" and it will take you to another page where you can post a photo.
Try it and post a photo so we can see what your Antic looks like.

Hi John,
When you bring your picture up do you have "image" on your toolbar? If so you can go there and resize...drop it to about 650 or 700 and it should go thru. I use irfanview for all my images...that way I can reduce file sizes also.

Believe it or not John that's my first antic I built about 1979 and sold after it was finished because I moved to New Orleans and had no space to take it along. I ran into a guy at our flea market this year who knows the man who bought it and told me he never flew it...just has it hanging up in his house still. I had an O.S.50 in it and had the muffler modified so the exhaust came out the bottom. I added mahogany veneer to the sides and the top and motor mount is painted with superpoxy. I'm still working on my bipe and since I have another antic mono I think i'll build those wings and I can switch back and forth. JENNY'S NEXT!!! Love those proctor kits!

Yo John,
Sunday I will take a few digital photos of your Antic and post them here on Monday if you would like.
By the way...maybe we should have an Antic fly-in at the AMPS field sometime...
Smooth Landings,
Jake
