Default Texaco 8 X 4 props

Are the Master Airscrew 8 X 4 props allowed and if so how do they compare to the grey Cox?

Yes, MA props are allowed. SAM rulebook RC Section 1 , para Q: "two bladed propellers made of wood, injection molded plastic, or continous fiberglass strand and plastic shall be permitted."

Performance I don't know, yet. I'm out of all my Cox spares and will be testing different combinations to get ready for next year. I had good luck in the past with Rev-Up 8x3 wood props...try finding them!

Please post your results if you do some testing.

How would the 7-3 1/2 Rev-up do?

Probably quite well for some folks. Many favor the 8-4 Cox props and seek absolute maximum run duration with their engines just ticking over but they give up a bit in climb. I always used a bit less prop to get better wind penetration and try to get as high as possible upwind...it's going to take a good thermal or two to make the 15 minutes anyway. I still have pretty good eyes & have yet to lose a 1/2A (lost 2 A Texaco's though...I see they have cut the tank size for diesels now[:-])
