GP Super Aeromaster vrs. the GP Giant Aeromaster
I have been fortunate enough to acquire both a (NIB) Super Aeromaster and a (NIB) Giant Aeromaster this year. I had built the Super Aeromaster years ago, and it was a great flying plane until a radio failure caused it's demise. I will eventually build them both, but for now, I'm looking at the Giant Aeromaster for my next project.
Comparing them both, other than size, I have noticed that the Giant Aeromaster doesn't include the option of a swept lower wing, as the smaller version has. This brings up a few questions about the kit.
1) can you or Great Planes tell me where the plane's balance range be, if I were to sweep the bottom wing (matching the sweep of the top wing) and shortening the lower wing one rib bay??
2) using a large gasoline engine (G-62), should tail struts be incorporated into the vertical fin and horizontal stab (as this is not mentioned in the directions nor shown on the plans) ??
3) should an engine at the top of the power range be mounted solid to the engine box, or isolation mounts be used??
4) is GP going to put either or both size Aeromaster kits back into production?? For now, replacement parts (canopies, cowls, plans and instructions) are next to impossible to obtain, as are kits for these models.
Thanks in advance for your response to my questions,

RE: GP Super Aeromaster vrs. the GP Giant Aeromaster
To answer your questions:
1) Since we haven't built a Giant Aeromaster with both wings swept, we don't have a number for a balance point. If you're going to build the big one roughly similar to the regular size, then we'd estimate the balance point would be in proportion to the size of the model.
2) As tested, the Giant Aeromaster didn't need struts to help support the tail surfaces, but if your model is going to be flown near full power in heavy aerobatics, they couldn't hurt.
3) Great Planes strongly recommended a 'soft' mount for gasoline engines in the Giant Aeromaster.
4) Great Planes has made no announcement about what future plans might be. We'd not know until they were publicly announced. Sorry.

Thanks for your response to my questions Bill. Should I have additional questions during the project, I'll post them here.
