Default Monokote over monokote

I recently tried to put Monokote covering over Monokote.
I had less than spectacular results....[]
However, I have a UCD 60 that has a lot of fairly large trim panels that are Monokote over Monokote that are flawless...no bubbles or blisters that can be seen.
How do they do it?
Thanks!
JLK

If you have large areas where you want different colors of Monokote, the way it's done is to cut out and remove the underlying area of Monokote. Leave just enough so that the trim color going on top overlaps about 1/8"-1/4" all the way around.

On open bays, you can assemble the pieces on a sheet of glass, use solvent to get the seam, and then iron it down. Lay a strip of wet paper towel over the seams when you use a heat gun to shrink it.

something i have had a lot of luck with is useing a woodpecker. not the bird but from top flite called woodpecker it puts tiny little holes all over the place. It will take all the bubbles out but do not press real hard as you will go all the way thru the covering and shred it just enough to poke a hole in it works very well. cover your modle with bass color then get you a dry erase marker of contrasting color. trace your pattern to the plane useing your monocote as a templete. then simply use the woodpecker inside your lines you traced.
