I used Realflight. It took me 6 hours on it to learn to hover, then I took the real bird out in the front yard, with training gear on it, and was able to successfully hover right away, thanks to the simulator.

My personal favorite is Heli X . It is bought online and there is a free demo version to try it before buying.. You will need a wireless dongle or a USB transmitter to use it.

Well I guess there is the answer, RF is best! In the last 10-15 years ,Accu Rc - Next and Heli X have become the go to RC Heli programs. As for airplanes Realflight is a strong contender. My first simulator was a Dave Brown around 1991 , when RF deluxe came out in 1995 it was a game changer. I have bought most of the updated versions including the disaster, Reaflight X. I currently have Realflight Evo and it is good for the planes and the helis are ok, but for me Heli X is the go to heli sim and many of the other heli flyers I know us it also. Go to a real heli forum and ask this question, you will get better feedback. This is all personal opinion and I would never tell you which is best, this is just my opinion after using them all. They all work great as long as you put in the time on them. Good luck and have fun.

The Ikarus flight sim is awesome too. I like some of the features and models on there that werent available with RF at the time.

6 hours to learn to hover....yikes !, I was hovering as soon as I got the realflight Raptor off the ground first try. I used to hear everybody say "heli's are hard to fly", I have airplane, boat, car experience so Heli's was just a natural progression for me. I had 2 mishaps with my first bird, never had one since (been flying helis since 2007). I don't fly 3d though, I can in the SIM but won't attempt it with my own equipment. That cost $$, lol
