What esc and motor should I get or look for? I would like to get the best performance for this heli that I can get without going crazy over the top.

A lot of choices. I got the Ammo 28 45 2700 that was recommended, which works well. A couple of people have used the Align motors with good results (you out there, Tex?). I have no reservations about recommending the Castle Creations Phoenix 35 ESC-- it's great. It's even better if you get the CastleLink USB interface to connect it to your computer; there's a lot of stick flipping to program it otherwise, and with the CL you just point and click all the settings, and you can download newer firmware for the ESC as it's released, too.
